During the department's March monthly business meeting, we invited 4 upstanding civilians and their families from Lower Swatara to receive awards for helping to extricate two youths from a burning car on Stoner Drive on 11/25/16. Chief John Weikle gave Aaron Young, Mavis Dixon, Jennifer Dixon, and Riscardo Cruz plaques of recognition for their selfless deeds, going far beyond the call of duty, to help save a fellow man in such a life threatening situation. Linda Mehaffie, wife of State Representative Tom Mehaffie (106th District), also presented the individuals with a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for their heroic acts and efforts. After the awards presentation, the recipients and their families were provided a tour of the station and apparatus.
