Structure Fire in Lower Swatara

Just before 6:00 am this morning, the Lower Swatara Fire Department was alerted to a possible structure fire just down the road from the fire station. The incident was quickly upgraded to a working fire and the first alarm assignment was struck. Engine 59 (Lt. Zeiders) responded with 3 followed by Tanker 59 (FF. Burrows) with 2. Rescue 59 (FF D.Zimmerman) responded shortly afterwards with 2. Chief 59 responded to the scene and assumed command.
LSFD Members arrived to find a fully involved structure and began to attack with the deck gun followed by a 2 1/2 inch handline. Both 1 3/4 inch handlines were soon placed into service as well as the 1 3/4 inch bumper line. Engine 59 also laid approx 1,100 ft of 5 inch supply line from the street which was supported by Tanker 59 at the hydrant.
Mutual Aid units assisted with fire extinguishment and overhaul as well as cleanup.
Total time for the incident was approx. 3 hours.
